No April Fool’s JokeApril 1, 2021
The price of groceries, gas, home heating, and alcohol all just went up.
And this is no April Fool’s joke.
Today, an automatic 33% increase on the Liberal’s carbon tax comes into effect, which means you are going to see a price increase at the grocery store, at the gas pump, and on your electricity bill.
While so many Canadians are struggling and are out of work, now is not the time to burden families with even more expenses.
And the carbon tax increase is not the only tax hike Canadians are forced to deal with…
A couple years ago, the Prime Minister mandated that the tax on alcohol be increased every year, with no Parliamentary debate or input.
This escalator tax on beer, wine, and spirits automatically increases the price of alcohol every year on April 1st.
That means if you crack open a beer while watching the Battle of Alberta tomorrow evening, or enjoy a glass of wine with Easter dinner, it’s going to cost you more.
It will also be crushing for many Canadian craft breweries, wineries, and distilleries who have been hit hard by the pandemic and have had to lay off some or all of their staff.
When will these tax increases on hardworking Canadian families end?
Canada’s Conservatives have committed to scrapping the carbon tax and presenting a real plan that fights global emissions.
We are also committed to ending automatic tax hikes on alcohol.
Now is not the time to be raising taxes. It is time to make it easier for families and small businesses to get back on their feet.
