Trudeau Must Resign
The Prime Minister must resign. In recent days and weeks, serious allegations surrounding the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister’s Office have been brought to light. Despite these alarming accusations, Trudeau deflected these legitimate concerns and discredited those who would speak the truth. Justin Trudeau continues to act confused that Canadians value the truth. Thankfully, Canadians were able to hear the truth because of the shocking, courageous, and detailed testimony of the former Attorney General, Jody Wilson-Raybould.
Apparently, Justin Trudeau is unable to govern without invalidating and invading the sanctity and integrity of the truth. Instead, he seems willing to break the law in order to achieve self-interested goals. The inappropriate and disturbing pressure that Justin Trudeau and his staff put on the former Attorney General are only the latest examples of the Trudeau Government’s ethics violations. Just recently, Justin Trudeau and his top advisors were subpoenaed in the criminal case against Vice-Admiral Mark Norman. This Prime Minister has also been found guilty of ethics violations. He has permitted and encouraged inappropriate behaviour and a disregard for the law to become the heart of his leadership. For Trudeau, it appears a willingness to break the law comes easier than preserving and protecting it. It’s no surprise that the Liberal Government prefers to punish victims while rewarding criminals.
The Globe and Mail writes that Trudeau has “lost the moral mandate to govern”, and Macleans states that Trudeau has created a “moral catastrophe”. It’s safe to say that Justin Trudeau does not have the moral authority to govern. He no longer has the right to govern. In the words of the Conservative Leader of the Opposition, Andrew Scheer:
“As Ms. Wilson-Raybould has so clearly articulated, the people Canadians entrusted to protect the integrity of our very nation were instead only protecting themselves and their friends. Mr. Trudeau can no longer, in good standing and with a clear conscience, lead this great nation. Canada should be a country where we are all equal under the law. Where nobody – regardless of wealth, status, or political connections – is above the law.”
An abuse of power, a disregard for the truth and those who defend it – these are not the qualities of a leader who can insist he still has the confidence of Canadians. This is a Prime Minister who repeatedly uses, or instructs others to use, veiled threats to bully others. As Ms. Wilson-Raybould’s disciplined and convincing testimony stated: many high-ranking officials used a “consistent and sustained effort” to pressure and interfere in her role as Attorney General. As his other alleged acts of political interference and ethical violations show, Ms. Wilson-Raybould is not alone in witnessing and experiencing the absence of morality in the Prime Minister’s Office.
There is no doubt that Justin Trudeau must immediately resign as Prime Minister. A leader who cannot accept or speak the truth is not capable of respecting it. These shocking allegations of interference and potentially illegal behaviour, demonstrate that Trudeau prioritizes partisan political interests above the rule of law.
Do you agree that the Prime Minister should resign?
